we are hard at work recording a record right now. We have about 8 or 9 new songs that we are working on. Hope to get a record out soon.

Due to the existence of a number of other bands named Pow Wow, exclamation points and acapella vocals aside, Pow Wow has officially now become Soft Power.
Soft Power is the new band... and the members are: Jonah Takagi, Winston Yu, T.J. Lipple and Mary Timony.
our first show is at Comet Ping Pong in DC on Saturday, June 20th.

Secret songs see the light of day! The Spells "Bat Vs. Bird E.P" is up on the NPR web site ...it's 4 unreleased songs we recorded in the year 2000. Read about it on Carrie's Monitor Mix blog. You can download two of the songs for free! (www.npr.org/music)

Mary is going to be a part of a band performing live soundtracks to Brent Green's short animated films. The show is in Ithaca, NY on Sat. Sept. 27th. more info at Nervousfilms.com
Also, Mary and Joe wong just worked on the soundtrack to a short film called In "Bed with a Mosquito" by director Sarah Frank. Its going to be in a couple of festivals soon. More to come...

I just addded some shows to our tour page. we are playing 4 shows in Colorado at the end of December, Including a New Years show.

We are Back from tour. the shows were really fun, and I'd like to thank everyone who came out and saw us. We appreciate your support.
There is a new video for Sharpshooter that is out. You can see it on the KRS web site. www.killrockstars.com I'll try to get it playing on this site too.
For those of you near the DC area, we are playing at Fort Reno Park on July 12th. Come on out (and bring your bug spray) the show is free, and starts at 7:30.

We are just about to take off for tour. We'll be playing 10 shows including two shows at SXSW in Austin. Please check out the Tour Page to see the details of towns, and clubs, etc...

Here's what's been going on lately... We just returned from doing basic tracks for the new record at J. Robbin's studio in Baltimore. We tracked 8 new songs, and we'll do overdubs, and another 3 or so songs at home this summer.
We also just finished recording a song for a KRS holiday comp which should be available next Dec. or so.
In other news... are playing a free show on August 17th at Fort Reno Park in Washington DC. Also playing that night is Garland of Hours, the lovely Amy Domingues' band. Mary and Devin will be playing on a few Garland songs as well that night. www.fortreno.com

We are touring in May and June... Please check the "tour" page for dates, venues and towns. we are opening for Pinback through the South, and then playing our own shows as well in the midwest and NE. This tour is kinda a warm up for us to get ready to record the new record, so we will be trying out some new material at the shows, and we are proud to say, Chad Molter will be joining us on the bass guitar. Hope to see you soon in your town!

I am very excited to announce that our next record will be coming out on Kill Rock Stars.
KRS has always been a label that I have really respected, and has released such great music over the past decade and half...
Devin and I are very honored to now be working with them.
We are in the song writing phase right now, and we'll record this spring/summer. The record should come out next winter.

We will be playing a show at the Black Cat in D.C. on February 9th. Also appearing will be The Aquarium and The Picture is Dead, two great D.C. bands. Hope to see you there.
